Mid Columbia Webs customers often ask “What is the Difference Between a Blog and a Website”, and it is an important question, that has a few answers.

When people think of the word “blog”, they think of a weblog, or an online journal. Of course many small businesses now have blogs, so blogs are not necessarily personal journals. Blogs use a specific type of software usually called content management software, or CMS that is very easy to update with your posts.

A traditional website may be written in a variety of computer languages, but it often requires someone with skill (and an expensive software program) to update your site. Unless you have hundreds of thousands of dollars for your online business, you don’t really change it very often, because changing it is a big deal.

A small business may have a traditional website with a blog attached to it, making it easy to update their blog all the time, just not the main part of the website. Or they may decide to create their entire website within the blogging platform. so it looks separate, but it is not. That way they can easily update the entire site quickly and inexpensively.

Mid Columbia Webs is happy to create a separate blog for you, or to create your entire website within the blogging platform (or CMS), whichever choice works for your small business. We believe small business blogging is so important to your online success, that whichever method you chose, you will benefit from it.
