What are your website goals?

Craig Sutton was the first presenter at www.learnaboutweb.com.  Craig talked about the importance of knowing your website goals before hiring a designer.

Are you wanting to create leads with your site?  Who is your target market?  What information can you provide on your website that your market is interested in? Does your competitor have a website?  What can you do better than your competitor?

Also consider what information you can provide your target customer to instill trust.  Are you a member of a professional association?  Put it on your website.  A member of the better business bureau ?  Place their logo on your site.  Testimonials.  Ask your customers if they will provide testimonials and place them on your site.

When considering what to place on your website, consider installing a blog as well.  I’ll go into more details about blogging in a later post but the main point you want to remember is blogging provides two way communication between you and your customers.
