Learning about the web

I attended the www.learnaboutweb.com conference in the Tri-Cities today.  All in all a great conference.  Focus was on teaching small businesses about how to get noticed on the web.  I’ll be providing a few posts on the different speakers and what I took away from each.

Most of what they were teaching was information that I already knew, but like any learning venue, there were still a number of things that I learned.  The most important piece I took away from the conference was how important it is for small businesses to make their mark on the web – now.

I’ll provide some statistics that were presented in the conference in a later post, but basically local search is only going to increase in years to come.

I don’t know for sure if they plan on holding the conference again next year, but if you are a small business I definitely recommend you attend if they hold the conference next year.  The price was incredibly cheap for the quality of information provided.

Edit: I had a chance to twitter with Craig Sutton, the organizer of www.learnaboutweb.com, and he said the conference will be an annual event.  I know I will definitely attend next year.
