A fantastic way to kill two birds with your small business blog is to use it as a platform to answer common customer questions. You’ll have content to write, you can direct customers to your blog and people who visit your blog will be educated about your product or service.
Yes, you can definitely have a Frequently Asked Questions, or FAQ, section on your website, but a blog post about each question allows you to really answer the question in depth and to add pictures and videos if appropriate. (Do you know who loves pictures and videos? Search Engines!)
If you run a dry cleaning business and people are asking you if the chemicals you use are environmentally friendly, write a post about how exactly a shirt gets cleaned. Or if you have a video camera, video it and then put it up. Be specific and factual, your readers and customers will appreciate it.
If you own a winery, explain exactly how your grapes are harvested. Wouldn’t it be fun for customers to read a day by day account of harvest and wine making season? A video of the grapes being crushed? They would feel like they understand your wine better than other winery’s products.
When a customer asks one of the questions you have blogged about, just give them a card with your website and tell them you have the whole process explained thoroughly on your blog or you have a video of it. Doesn’t that sound nicer than “it’s on our FAQ on our website”. If they ask a question you would think would make a great post, thank them and tell them you are going to put it on your blog. They will feel like they contributed to your small biz.
Customers don’t want to think they are asking something other people frequently ask, they want to be unique. Pointing them to a post just feels like you are providing them with all the information they need, and you are so thoughtful for doing so.
Your small business blog should make your customers feel good about themselves, and about you. By answering common questions, you are keeping the dialogue open. Readers (prospects and customers) can ask further questions in the comments or call you. They are now fully engaged.
When you send them to a FAQ page, they might not find their question, and go find another website that does answer their question, and then that other company gets the business.
Answering common questions is win win. Mid Columbia Webs wants to help you get up your blog or dynamic website so you can start answering those questions quickly.
